Gloucestershire Butterfly Conservation - March 2015

A big thank you to Sue and Rob from Butterfly Conservation for giving up an evening to teach us so much about butterflies and moths. In an action packed evening we had a fascinating slide show, games, word searches, colouring and we were able to sow marigold seeds to germinate and plant in the garden!

Let's see what you remember from the evening, how many of these questions can you answer?

  1. How many species of butterflies live or visit us in the UK?
  2. How many types of moths can be found in the UK?
  3. What is the name given to the butterfly with orange tips to its wings?
  4. True or false - most moths come out at night?
  5. How can you tell the difference between a moth and a butterfly?
  6. What is the name of the moth pictured below?

Look out for a Woodcraft trip to the butterfly reserve on Cleeve Hill during the summer term and see the butterflies and moths in all their glory!
